Police appeals for public support to capture hardened criminal

The Upper East and Northern Regional Police Command, have appealed to the public to assist in efforts to arrest Johnson Kombia Soloma, popularly known as Buger, a convict who escaped from the Tamale Central Prisons. Soloma was serving a 25 -year prison term for armed robbery and broke jail until he was arrested in 2009. A joint statement issued by the police in Bolgatanga described Soloma as a violent and notorious criminal who is on record to have shot military and police officers in some of his escapades. He is reported to have attacked and robbed a man of his motorbike on January 18 and rode to Nakpanduri when he escaped from prison. The statement said Soloma had issued threats against the Upper East Regional Police Commander and those who assisted the police for his recapture in Bolgatanga in September 2009. It said Soloma is believed to be armed with an AK 47 assault riffle and may be hiding in the Nakpanduri and Gambaga districts in the Northern Region and communities along Bawku and Ghana-Togo border. The police administration had promised a reward of 2,000.00 Ghana cedis for anyone who gives information leading to his arrest.
