Editorial: Fire, Fire Everywhere

The fire outbreak at the Tema Oil Refinery should most definitely be a source of great worry. The TOR fire comes after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been burnt down and fire had gutted several other public buildings and market. By now, it should be obvious that Ghana is not adequately prepared for these devastating fire outbreaks and the authorities need to do everything possible to effectively handle fires. The state of the National Fire Service is below acceptable standards and the conditions in which public buildings stands is at best risky. The Insight urges the Government and all relevant agencies to take appropriate steps first to prevent such fire out breaks and when they occur to minimize the damage, they cause. Fire outbreaks are becoming a major threat to the Ghanaians economy. Let the authorities do something serious about them.
