GCPP Threatens To Sue Political Parties With Vigilante Groups

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Mr. Kofi Owusu Omar, has threatened to sue political parties for promoting vigilante activities in the country if they refused to disband such groups.

According to him, "the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) should accept the fact that they are the main cause of the uncountable mayhem recorded in the country."

In a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com, he admonished the "various political parties who involve themselves in vigilantism activities" for protection to "disassociate from the group and consult Ghana Police Service for professional security protection" in other to allow law and order to manifest.

Bemoaning how the various political parties "use incumbency to interfere with" with the work of Police Officers, Mr. Kofi Owusu Omar described as "barbaric" and a "disgrace to Ghana's politics" the recent shooting incident which led to the death of one person and another sustaining serious injuries at the Ashanti Regional NDC Headquarters.

He therefore urged the various political parties in country including GCPP to "stop interfering the police service administration with their own selfish interest".
