NDC Manifesto Must Include Performance Contract

Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suggested that the Party's manifesto for the 2020 general elections be constituency-based and include a performance contract with the people.

He said such contract must detail an action plan that would outline the role leaders of the Party, government, and the community would play towards ensuring effective governance and rapid socio-economic development.

Mr Gunu said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the Party's presidential primaries in Ho.

He alleged that the "massive" progress made by the NDC government in the community and national development, had been halted by the current administration, which he said was evident in alleged re-emergence of frequent power cuts in parts of the country.

The NDC Regional Secretary said he was confident the Party would win the 2020 general elections and constitute a government that would bring relief to Ghanaians and called for unity in the NDC.

Mr Gunu said the large voter turnout and the overwhelming endorsement of a flagbearer for the Party by delegates in the Region was a clear indication that that region remained a stronghold that would contribute its share of votes towards victory in 2020.

He said the next NDC government would work to erase the "false impression that NDC did nothing for Volta", adding that, the physical infrastructural development initiated by the John Mahama administration was visible for all to see.

Mr Kafui Agbleze, Regional Communications Officer of the Party also said the high turnout of delegates would reflect in the next general elections and that the Region would vote massively to counter votes from the strongholds of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
