Auto Electrician Remanded For Defiling Stepdaughter

A 35-year-old auto electrician, Ransford Gyimah, who allegedly defiled his 14-year-old stepdaughter has been remanded into prison custody by the Tarkwa circuit court.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and would re-appear before the court on March 19.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Essel-Dadzie told the court that, the victim is a primary five pupil who resides with her mother and the accused at Dekyemso, a suburb of Dadieso in the Suaman District.

She said in November 2018 Gyimah's wife travelled to Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region to attend a funeral.

DSP Essel-Dadzie said the accused took advantage of her absence and had sexual intercourse with the victim at night on a mat in their room.

She said after the accused had satisfied himself, he warned the victim not to tell anyone, else he would kill her.

According to the prosecution, when the victim's mother returned to Dadieso in December, she heard rumors in town that Gyimah has defiled their daughter.

She said the mother then confronted the accused and the victim and both confessed.

DSP Essel-Dadzie added that on December 31, 2018, the victim's mother reported the case to the Dadieso Police where a medical report form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention.

She said on January 1, 2019, the accused person who went into hiding was apprehended by the Dadieso police and charged him with the offence.
