The Enchi District Magistrate court presided over by His Worship Eric Baah Boateng has convicted a farmer, Kwaku Gyasi, 30, to twelve months imprisonment in hard labour for assaulting his neighbour Job Nketia.
The accused who pleaded guilty to the charge was convicted to his own also fined GH?1,200.00 in default serve an additional 12 months in prison.
He was again ordered to compensate the complainant with an amount of GH?2,000.00
Prosecuting, Detective Joseph Kwadwo Agyare told the court that Gyasi and Nketia are farmers and residents of Odifokrom in Aowin.
The Prosecution said on December 10, 2018 at about 2335 hours the complainant's wife Gladys Asamoah and her friend Joana Quashie returned from church and were sitting in the complainant's compound when they saw a strange person flashing a torchlight behind the house.
He said Gladys called the complainant who was then in the living room and narrated what they had seen to him.
The Prosecution said the complainant scouted around the house and shouted several times but no one responded but few minutes later the complainant saw someone in the shadows and he decided to follow closely
He said the complainant then saw Gyasi with a luggage and tapped him on the shoulder and enquired from him his mission at that odd hour and his refusal to identify himself.
The Prosecution said the convict took offence and told the complainant to mind his own business.
Mr Agyare said Gyasi attempted to hit the complainant with his luggage and torchlight but he dodged him and this resulted in a fight between them.
He said a neighbour came in to separate them but Gyasi attacked the complainant again and bit off his lower lip.
The Prosecution said Nketia bled profusely and reported the matter to the Boniso Police where he was issued with a medical report form to attend hospital for treatment.
