We Even Have Prostitutes As National Security Operatives - Sammy Awuku Defends 'Double'

The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, has hint that the National Security even uses the services of prostitutes if the need arises since the service is about intelligence gathering.

He described those who are saying National Security Operator, Bright Ernest Akomea aka 'Double' is not qualified to be a security operator as 'ignorant' and 'naive' of the operations of the National Security.

Mr. Awuku who is mounting a spirited defense for 'Double' who many describe as his ally, disclosed that different persons with different backgrounds and professions have been recruited as operatives to serve different purposes.

According to him, National Security is an institution that work with all manner of people to derive information from any outfit in the country depending on the kind of information required in a particular case.

"We have Prostitutes as National Security workers, it depends on the type of people they want to deploy on a particular job," he said.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he maintained that those peddling falsehood either lack knowledge or are ignorant about the operations of the National Security.

"National Security operators can use cleaners, shoemakers, Fishermen, Blind and Crippled men as Security operators and some of this men cannot even write their names . . . that does not mean they cannot be used if they have the skills and ability to get right information for the institution," he explained.

"Their nature of work come in various ways. There are times you need a shoemaker to get certain information which a Doctor or Legon Professor cannot get. They always use people that have knowledge at their filed of work . . . and such people operate in diverse and unique ways for the institute," he added.

Mr. Awuku stressed that such argument is the most diabolic, naive and ignorant and they must not be taken serious.

'Double' has been accused by Ningo-Prampram MP, Samuel George, of being among the National Security operatives who fired gunshots towards a crowd during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections on January, 21, 2019.

Sam George also alleged that 'Double' was a member of the pro-NPP militia group, Invincible Forces.

Bright Ernest Akomea, also known as 'Double' has debunked the claims by the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram that he was a member of the Invincible Forces before being recruited into the National Security.

However, taking his turn at the Commission, 'Double' said he joined the National Security two years ago and prior to that he had never been a member of any vigilante group.

He further indicated that "I was a mobile phone dealer prior to my recruitment".

'Double' spoke local dialect, Twi, throughout his session with the Commission of Inquiry.
