Work on CHIPS in Gomoa West to commence soon

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa West, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur has cut sod for commencement of work on the Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) for Abamkrom, Akyempim and Mfantseman communities in the area. The project, sited at Abamkrom was estimated to cost GHC 20,000 and would be funded from the MPs share of the Common Fund and the Health Insurance levy. Mr. Arthur urged Ghanaians to observe personal and environmental cleanliness to ensure good health. He advised the people to eschew rivalry and ensure that the health facility worked efficiently after its completion. Miss Gifty Ankrah, Gomoa West District Director of Health Services, said the CHPS concept was to bring health care to the doorsteps of the people. She asked the people to support community health volunteers and other personnel who would be asked to manage the facility. Mr Mark Nii Lamptey, Manager of Gomoaman Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, advised the people to register with the scheme to enable them to access quality and affordable health care.
