3 ‘Wee’ Women Released On Bail

A circuit Court in Obuasi has released on bail three women who stand accused of dealing in narcotic drugs after large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were seized from them.

Georgina Asare, aka Madam, 30; Doris Asare, 27 and Akosua Nyankomago, 50, were arrested early this week by the Fomena District Police Command with a total of 197 parcels of wee and 143 wrappers of the same substance at New Edubiase and Kyeraboroso.

Nyankomago, who was first picked up by the police, led them to the house of Madam at New Edubiase, where a huge quantity of the substance was discovered.

The presiding judge, Joyce Boahene, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of GH¢90,000 after it became known that one of them was pregnant.

They are expected back in court on April 16, 2019, to continue their trial.

Fomena District Police Commander Supt Fii Ochil narrated that whilst 143 wrappers of suspected Indian hemp were found in the possession of Akosua Nyankomago at Kyeraboroso, the 197 parcels were discovered at the house of Madam and Doris at New Edubiase.
