Celebrities Played a Part In NDC’s ‘Embarrassing’ Defeat In 2016 – Koku [Video]

Former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Koku Anyidoho says a post election report by the Prof. Kwesi Botchwey Committee to seek reasons for the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 election mentioned the involvement of celebrities as part of their defeat.

“In fact that defeat was painful. So many things went wrong and the Kwesi Botchwey report has stated it clearly. Celebrities played part in our defeat,” he said in an interview with Neat FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

According to Koku Anyidoho, the NDC lost the 2016 General Election because about 1 million supporters of the party did not vote as they were not in support of how the campaign was being run.

He explained that, the grass-root level of the party were ignored - “we chose celebrities to lead our campaign. This won’t happen again.”

“We neglected our structures. We can’t have a party and allow ‘strangers’ to run a campaign for us,” he added.
