Some aggrieved residents of Tarkwa in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region on Wednesday morning blocked the main Tarkwa-Takoradi road; demonstrating against government for bad roads in their town.

In a report filed by Nana Poku, the protestors mounted roadblocks and burnt car tyres on the Tarkwa-Ahietieso stretch of the road disrupting traffic flow.

Further reports gathered indicate that the demonstrators were to submit a petition to the Tarkwa Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE); however, they seem to have changed their mind.

There is however a heavy police presence to ensure the demonstration does not get out of hand.
