Atwima-Kwanwoma DCE inaugurates projects

Mr Tony Nyame, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima-Kwanwoma on Wednesday inaugurated a school infrastructure and environmental sanitation facilities at Kwanwoma, a fast growing community in the district. The projects included a six-classroom block with an office and store, boreholes and public places of convenience, were funded by the government and the community with support from some individuals and organizations. Inaugurating them, Mr Nyame said education was one of the main pillars of the government development agenda, and would therefore be given every necessary attention. They would ensure that the right environment existed for smooth and effective academic work. The DCE urged parents to take advantage of interventions like the school feeding programme and the capitation grant to enrol all children of school going age. Mr Nyame praised the chiefs and people in the community for their foresight, initiative and drive and said the district assembly would give a push to those, who made efforts to improve their living conditions. It was important for the communities to rekindle their self-help spirit and take steps to tackle development challenges. Mr Williams Awuni, the District Education Officer, called for effective collaboration between schools' management committees and the education directorate to raise academic performance of pupils and students in the area. Nana Kofi Adjei 1V, chief of the town, said the projects would significantly help to improve teaching and learning as well as the health of the people. He appealed to the Assembly to help extend electricity to the school. Nana Kwabena Yeboah, Sanaahene of Adum in Kumasi who presided over the function, appealed for support for brilliant but needy children to enable them pursue academic careers.
