The families of the three kidnapped Takoradi girls have suspended their intended march to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana police service to demand the whereabouts of the girls from CID boss COP Maame Yaa Tiwaah Addo Danquah.

This was after Western Regional Police Commander; DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dzedzo led a police delegation to introduce a liaison officer to the families.

The families were planning to pitch camp at the CID headquarters today, Thursday, 2 May 2019 to demand the removal of the CID boss if she failed to produce the girls after publicly announcing that the police know their whereabouts.

The Western Region police also assured the families of a meeting on Friday, 3 May 2019 for further discussions.

Spokesperson of the families Mr Michael Grant Hayford was hopeful that the move by the police will yield positive results.

The missing girls are 18-year-old Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, last seen on 21 December 2018; 21-year-old Priscilla Blessing Bentum, last seen on 17 August 2018; and 18-year-old Ruth Love Quayson, last seen on 4 December 2018.

The man suspected to be behind the kidnappings, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills, who broke cell and escaped from the custody of the Takoradi Metropolitan Police Command on 30 December 2018, was re-arrested by the police.

Udoetuk-Wills was recaptured in the wee hours of Friday, 4 January 2019, by three policemen in an abandoned building in the bush at Kansawurodu, near Takoradi. He has been sentenced by the Takoradi Market Circle Court to 18 months imprisonment for escaping lawful custody.
