Two Robbers Shot At Tema

The Patrol Team of the Tema Regional Police Command last Monday gunned down two armed robbers last Monday night at the Community 18 junction. Addressing journalists in Tema, the Tema Regional Police Commander, ACP Augustine Gyening disclosed that information reached the night patrol team at about 11.40 pm that some armed robbers were terrorizing some residents at the community 18 junction. He said on reaching the scene, the robbers fired at the Police patrol team who also returned fire resulting in the death of two of the robbers. He continued that one of the robbers, Atsu Kudjo a 21-year-old broom seller who tried to escape arrest jumped over a wall into a house where he wrestled with the owner of the house and in the process assaulted him in a bid to escape arrest. The Police, according to ACP Gyening retrieved some items such as two mobile phones, locally manufactured a pistol, two kitchen knives, a machete and one rechargeable lamp from the robbers. ACP Gyening said, Atsu Fugah, one of the robbers who was arrested would be interrogated to help the Police in their investigations. He said the Police is confronted with the problem of congestion at the Police cells in the Tema metropolis. ACP Augustine Gyening cautioned residents within the Tema metropolis and its environs to take their personal safety serious to help avert robberies and other attacks. He said some armed robbers were able to raid certain homes because of carelessness on the part of homeowners and occupiers. The Tema Police Commander stated that apart from Police�s protection, residents should also keep themselves safe and desist from opening their windows and doors at night. He appealed to the residents to call the operational telephone lines of the Police on suspicion of armed robbery and during armed to enable the Police come to their rescue.
