Sekruwa fire disaster victims get relief items

The Asante-Mampong Municipal Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have jointly presented relief items worth about GH3,000 to the fire disaster victims at Sekruwa, a farming community in the municipality. These included mattresses, used clothing, bags of rice, Wellington boots, plastic cups, plates and bathroom sandals. Raging wildfire suspected to have been started by the activities of hunters, completely levelled eight buildings and caused extensive damage to property and food stock in the village last Saturday. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Daniel Appau Ohyeamang, presenting the items, advised the community to guard against activities that could lead to wildfires. He warned that anybody caught engaged in bush hunting in the municipality would be arrested and prosecuted. The MCE assured the people that a new classroom block would be constructed to replace the existing structure that is in a bad shape. Additionally, the pupils would be supplied with school uniforms. Nana Kofi Tawiah, Odikro of Sekruwa, said the community was grateful to the assembly and NADMO for the support.
