Tema Mantse Pledges Support For Railways Development

The Paramount Chief of Tema, Nii Adjei Kraku II has pledged his unflinching support for railways development in the country.

The Chief gave his assurance when the Minister for Railways Development, Hon. Joe Ghartey paid a courtesy call on him in his Palace at Tema in the Greater Accra Region to seek his blessings.

He said successive governments have done their bits but this Government is practically determined to revamp the sector in a manner that will transform the country’s economy through jobs and industry.

Addressing the Paramount Chief, Hon, Joe Ghartey noted that “Tema remains key to railway development given that it play host to a number of railway facilities, therefore, in the wake of revamping the sector, it is only prudent to call and seek the blessing of the Paramount Chief not only for the smooth implementation of the H.E. the President’s vision but also to provide jobs for the youths.”

Enhanced Monitoring Prgramme

The Hon. Minister continued to visit the Ghana Railway Company Limited Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) Workshop in Tema as part of the Ministry’s new monitoring strategy, the Enhanced Monitoring Programme.

The fortnight program allows the Minister to lead a Team of officials to inspect railway projects to assess critical risk issues for quick resolution.

Hon. Joe Ghartey was accompanied by his Deputy, Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi, the Deputy Minister for the Greeater Accra Region, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, the Chief Executive of the Tema Municipal Assembly, Mr Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, CEO of the Ghana Railway Development Authority and the Managing Director of the Ghana Railway Company Ltd.
