GJA Press Conference On ModernGhana Journalists Was 'Needless' – MP For Subin

Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin constituency in the Ashanti Region, Eugene Boakye Antwi has described as needless the emergency Press Conference held on Wednesday by the Ghana Journalists Association(GJA) to react to developments surrounding the arrest of two journalists; Emmanuel Ajafor Abugri and Emmanuel Britwum.

He said the association needs a lot more patience to undergo credible investigations into the matter before a conclusion to hold a press conference, because the two arrested journalists are saying two different things with respect to their arrest.

“There are a lot of angles that GJA could have investigated the matter before holding a press conference, another angle they should have considered is why among the two journalists invited by the BNI one has confirmed he was not tortured whiles the other was,” he argued.

He further explained that, “the leadership of GJA should have written to the BNI for engagements, it is not the best to side with their member neglecting to hear the other side”.

The Deputy Works and Housing Minister on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme shared that with his little experience as a Ghanaian in the media space, persons who are always in a hurry to discuss their issues in the media always come lose at the end.

"Persons who always run to the media to discuss their case with them are the ones at fault, but always want to be sympathized with,” he said.
