'Shameful' EC Should Convene An Immediate IPAC Meeting Over "Shoddy" Exercise - Asiedu Nketia

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called an immediate IPAC meeting over the just ended 'shoddy' limited voters' registration exercise.

According to them, the exercise was fraught with challenges and poorly organized by the Electoral Commission.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia explained that there was a deliberate attempt by the Electoral Commission to cause confusion with the exercise as they have succeeded in doing that.

"The Electoral Commission should bury their head in shame and convene an immediate IPAC meeting so that they can listen to our concerns and have it addressed," he stressed.

The limited voters' registration exercise ended on Sunday, July 7, with a number of people calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) to extend the period to allow more people to get registered.

The exercise was conducted to offer Ghanaians who have attained 18 years since the last registration exercise, as well as those who, for one reason or another, have never registered, to do so.

However, as the exercise, which started on June 24, 2019, ended, many people who went to the various district offices of the EC and designated registration centres to register were unable to do so.
