Man With Petrol Held

A 35-year-old dispatch rider of WESTEC Security who was found on the premises of Cedi House in Accra with petrol in two water bottles has been arrested for interrogation by the security agencies. The suspect, Adams Baba, was arrested by the security agencies while climbing the stairs at the Cedi House and handed over to the police for suspected arson. According to the Ministries Police, three security men brought the rider and reported that he had been found on the premises of the bank and when a bag he was carrying was searched, two bottles containing petrol, together with two cheque books, were found. Upon further interrogation, Baba claimed that the motorbike he used was an official one which was fuelled every day for his rounds. He said he normally siphoned the petrol from the official motorbike into bottles and after close of work he put whatever he got into his personal motorbike. For over two weeks now security at the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Cedi House and the offices of the e-Zwich has been beefed up following threats from some people that they were going to bum down those places. Investigations continue.
