Govt. To Investigate Alleged Encroachment By Togolese At Ahamansu

Nana Kwesi Owusu Yeboa, Oti Regional Minister has assured chiefs and people of Ahamansu Traditional Area of government’s commitment to investigate alleged land encroachment by some Togolese at Ahamanso, near Ghana-Togo border.

The Minister gave the assurance when a delegation of chiefs led by Nana Kwaku Osei, Krontehene and Regent of Ahamansu paid a courtesy call on him at his residence.

He said government would work with its Togolese counterparts to ensure that the issue was addressed amicably so that the current peace and tranquility enjoyed by both countries was not jeopardized.

Mr Yeboa also called for peaceful coexistence and good working relationship among ethnic groups in the region for accelerated socio-economic development.

He asked the chiefs to actively participate in the governance and decision-making processes of the region because “the development of the infant region will depend on the support and cooperation of the Traditional leaders.”

The Minister commended the leadership of Muslim community in Oti for the formation of the Oti Regional Council of Muslim Chiefs, saying, it would go a long way to give one voice to the Muslim community in the region.

Nana Kwaku Osei, appealed to the government to, as a matter of urgency renovate the Ahamansu Police Station, which he said had not seen any facelift since its establishment in 1960.

The chiefs also promised to release litigation-free arable land to the Oti Regional Coordinating Council for development projects.
