The Chief Executive for Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region, Honourable Eugene Sackey, has donated 800 dual desks to address furniture challenges faced by over 1,600 school pupils in the area.

Despite this timely intervention, students and teachers still lack furniture but the DCE for the area is optimistic of addressing it immediately.

Honourable Eugene Sackey, presenting the third batch of 300 pieces of dual desks to the District Education Directorate for distribution said since 2018, the Assembly has provided 350 tables and chairs to teachers and a 800 dual desks to serve 1,600 pupils.

The DCE, who was a trained teacher before his appointment reiterated his readiness to support Education in the area to be one of the best in Eastern Region and Ghana.

The Human Resources Manager in the District Education Directorate who received the desks commended the DCE for taking steps to address some of their challenges.

He called on the Assembly to provide teaching and learning materials as well as the furnishing of schools selected for Basic Education Certificate Examination to help put an end to candidates carrying desks from their schools to examination centres.
