Charles Bissue Can’t Be Corrupt Per Anas Exposé…CID Right To Clear Him-Appiah Stadium

A National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist popularly known as Appiah Stadium has thrown his support behind the outcome of the investigations conducted by the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) exonerating Charles Bissue in Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s galamsey exposé.

According to him, even though the former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue is not his relative, he can vouch for him as someone who cannot be compromised in the galamsey exposé investigation that came out.

He explained that, his personal experience with Mr. Bissue in South Korea where he helped a Ghanaian Community which had resident permit issue gives him (Appiah Stadium) the conviction that he could not have compromised his position as Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining.

“I remember when I was in Korea, there was a Ghana Community where we wanted to secure resident permits to stay . . . because in South Korea, they don’t give resident permit except those businessmen from Abossey Okai and Kumasi Magazine who are given six months to do business and return”.

“When we were taken to court in Korea, it was this same Charles Bissue who handled the case and found a lawyer for us. We appreciated the role he played to set us free and when we came to Ghana and he realized I belong to the NDC, he didn’t show any different attitude to me when we met,” he said.

He again was of the view that anybody at all could have fallen a victim including himself due to the manner in which the money was handed over to Charles Bissue as it was done via dubious way to trap him.

“When my younger brother Anas brought the galamsey video out, the only thing I said was that I would take that money if it had happened to me in that dubious way the money was given but I know that gentleman (Charles Bissue) from abroad,” he said.

He, however, was not surprised that the “so-called security experts and think-tanks” have registered their disagreements over the outcome of the CID investigation into Charles Bissue’s case.

“The thing is that if the police bring its investigation findings out, it is like a judge ruling on a case but sometimes those so-called security experts and think-tanks will say they disagree with the outcome of the police investigations”, he indicated.

The NDC maverick indicated that he has no doubt in the ability of the CID boss and her team to do a diligent job in the case of Charles Bissue even though he cannot say the same in other cases involving officials of President Akufo-Addo.

“…the police have stated that it has investigated and cleared him of all charges. What I am saying in this country is that, when you find yourself in any case, you will get people to go against you but if the police have issued a statement to clear him, I don’t think the CID boss and her team don’t know what are doing”, he insisted.

Appiah Stadium, therefore, advised his fellow NDC that “I will not say because I am NDC I will take advantage to speak ill of the police finding and Charles Bissue; I agree with the police finding; I support the police that he is a clean man because I know this gentleman. If we should put politics aside, Charles Bissue is a gentleman even though a gentleman can commit a crime but Charles Bissue’s case is different. I will suggest that we accept the police finding and move on to discuss issues which bother on development and not waste time on this”.

“I am not a security expert but with the issue of Charles Bissue, it cannot be classified as a crime if you see how the money was given to him but if this is what we will base on to crucify people as corrupt officials and sack them from their offices, then I believe that in Ghana from the office of the President, not this government alone but from Kwame Nkrumah’s era, no worker will remain in the office of the President”, he reiterated.
