UEW Crisis: Afenyo-Markins Calls For Truce

Member of Parliament for Efutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called for calm to prevail at the University of Education, Winneba to enable the school continue with its academic activities.

According to him, what is happening at the University is not affecting lecturers, but students who are in academic competition with students from other universities.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Afful-Broni should do the needful and respect the decision that was taken at a meeting when Prof. Avoke was sacked.

He intimated that what ever goes up in life definitely comes down so he should be mindful of what he is doing to others.

"However, I am appealing to every affected member of the university to remain calm and use the appropriate medium to settle whatever problem they may be encountering," he added.

Tensions are currently high at the campus of the University of Education Winneba following a press conference sacked Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Mawutor Avoke intends to organize on campus.

But the police prevented Prof. Avoke and his team from going ahead with the press conference.
