ACEP Blames MiDA, IFC For ‘Fraudulent’ PDS Deal

The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) are part of agents who caused the controversies surrounding the ‘fraudulent’ PDS deal, according to the African Centre For Energy Policy (ACEP).

An agreement between the Power Distribution Services (PDS) and Ghana government has been suspended following the discovering of some forged documents.

According to the statement from the Information Ministry, “the decision follows the detection of fundamental and material breaches of PDS’ obligation in the provision of payment securities.”

Energy Minister, Peter Amewu has also indicated that the company that PDS claimed was their security; Al Koot from Qatar has denied having any such agreement with PDS.

Reacting to this in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM, the Executive Director of ACEP claims had MiDA and IFC done due diligence, they could have noticed that some of the documents were forged.

“MiDA, International Finance Corporation; they could have seen the bond which came…they are all wrong; they are all part of the problem,” he said.

Meanwhile, has advised investigators to ensure that the two agencies step aside for proper investigations to be done.
