KOKMA Calls For Peaceful Celebration of Homowo In Osu

The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly ( KOKMA ) has urged residents in the Municipality to help make the celebration of the Homowo in Osu a very peaceful one.

This is contained in a press statement signed by Nii Ofori Quaye Head of Public Relations of KOKMA.

The Assembly condemned the eruption of violence and other acts of disturbances recently in the Osu township during the performance of the ritual feast for the Osu deities which led to the deployment of security personnel by the Municipal Security Council of the Assembly.

The Assembly commended the security agencies for their swift Intervention which to a large extent helped to avert any clash.

The Assembly also reiterated its resolve to maintain its neutral stance in an effort to broker peace between factions in the run-up to the celebration of the Homowo festival.

It assured the people that security agencies will be placed on high alert during the Homowo festivities to arrest perpetrators of violence.

The Assembly to go about their normal activities during the festive occasion without fear or panic as measures have been put in place to prevent any breach of the peace in Osu.
