Minimum Wage Up; Now GHS11.82

The National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) has gone up 11 per cent effective 1 January 2020. This is pursuant to the Labour Act 2003 (Act 651) section 113 (1) (a) and the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations announced this at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, 29 August 2019. He said: “Any establishment, institution or organisation that flouts the new rate shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law”.

The percentage was reached at the National Tripartite Committee (NTC) meeting on Monday, 26 August 2019. Mr Awuah further said the Akufo-Addo-led administration is committed to improving the income of workers and productivity in both the public and private sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
