Five Ghanaians have reportedly been arrested and detained in Sunnyside, Pretoria, South Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration made this known in a release issued on Friday, September 6, 2019.
According to the release, officials of Ghana High Commission in South Africa have visited the Police Station to provide consular assistance to the detained Ghanaians and are following up on the matter.
It did not provide reasons for their arrests but said South Africa Security agencies have been checking resident permits of foreigners residing in Sunnyside following recent xenophobic attacks.
The Ministry has urged all Ghanaians to remain calm.
