GES Addresses Controversy Over New Curriculum And Lack Of Textbooks

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to mark tomorrow 10th September 2019 which is the official reopening date for all basic schools as ‘My First Day of School’.

Even though the pupils are about to go to school in less than twenty-four hours time, some parents are complaining of not having access to textbooks to buy.

The Ghana Book Publishers Association wants the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) to grant it more time to prepare and submit quality textbooks for the new curriculum for kindergarten one to primary six.

The new education curriculum was launched by GES in April this year as part of ongoing reforms in the sector.

In a one-on-one interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', the Director-General of GES, Prof Opoku Amankwa addressed various issues surrounding the new curriculum.
