O.B Amoah, Health Minister Cut Sod For Commencement Of Two Hospital Projects In E/R

The Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu on Friday joined the Member of Parliament for Akuapim South in the Eastern Region, Honorable O.B Amoah to cut sod for the renovation of two hospital projects in the Eastern Region.

The two projects are expected to be completed within 24 months.

These projects are the expansion and refurbishment of the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital in Mampong-Akuapem in the Akuapem North District and the construction of a new district hospital in Aburi in the Akuapem South District at the site of the Kom Presbyterian Clinic to replace the existing facility.

The expansion and refurbishment which is part of the government's 40-euro district project when completed will provide all services offered by a major hospital including surgery, in-patient and out-patient and many more.

According to the Health Minister, “a two-year equipment maintenance programme has been included in the scope of work to ensure the replacement of equipment parts by the contractor within the period”

The Member of Parliament for Akuapim South in the Eastern Region, Honorable O.B Amoah on his part "I am glad the Health Minister joined us for this ceremony" and hoped that "all will help for its success"

He further expressed appreciation to the contractor, Messrs Contracta who had already started working on the facilities. He urged for local content'; that is using more of the indigenes to complete the project; "for them to some emotional attachment to this facility"
