Ayawaso West Assembly Nears Gh₵11million IGF Target

The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly has embarked on a revenue monitoring and taskforce exercise to ensure that it realizes its Gh₵11,554,547 Internally Generated Funds (IGF) target by the end of the year.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly, Mrs Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah as of September 2019, Gh₵9,602,575 - representing 80% of the target - has been realised.

Speaking at a Meet the Press session at the Assembly Hall on Friday in Accra, Mrs Ahinkorah also disclosed that to facilitate easy payment of rates the Assembly is in the process of establishing Revenue pay-points and electronic modes of payment.

"The IGF targeted for 2019 was eleven million, five hundred and fifty-four thousand, five hundred and forty-seven Ghana cedis, fifty pesewas, as at September 2019, nine million, six hundred and two thousand, five hundred and seventy-five Ghana cedis, sixty-one pesewas has been realized representing 80% performance," Mrs Ahunkorah stated.

"The Assembly has therefore embarked on a revenue monitoring and taskforce exercise to ensure that the Assembly realizes it target by the end of the year. Also, to facilitate easy payment of rates the Assembly is in the process of establishing revenue pay-points and electronic modes of payment".


She also disclosed that in 2018 the Assembly raised Gh₵6,609,607 ( which represents 84% of its IGF) which fell short of its revenue target of Gh₵7,837,169.Roads. Mrs Ahinkorah said the total road network of the Assembly stands at 387 kilometres, with 312 kilometres tarred and 75 kilometres untarred.


She said last year 12 kilometres of road works in Abelenkpe, Roman Ridge and Dzorwulu were carried out by the Government in the Assembly.

Mrs Ahinkorah disclosed that the Assembly was currently using Gh₵2,993,199 of its IGF for the tarring of selected roads within Shiashie, Westland and Dzorwulu communities.

"The projects were awarded on contract in September this year and the Contractor is currently on-site working. We wish to assure the people of the judicious use of their resources by the Assembly and also to encourage them to continue to pay their taxes to enable the Assembly carry out such needed projects within the communities," she said.
