The President of the Ga-Adangbe Council, Dr. K.B Asante says the council will recognize and work in harmony with any Ga Chief who has been customarily elected and enstooled as Chief. According to the former Diplomat, it is not the prerogative of the Council to delve into the legitimacy or otherwise of the current Ga Mantse, King Tackie Tawiah III. He said that the King has gone through all the customary processes and the Council recognizes him as the Ga Mantse. In an interview with Citi FM, he stated that the Ga-Adangbe council is not involved in the controversy surrounding the legitimacy of Nii Tackie Tawiah III, and does not wish to get involved because the council deals on customary laws and not with legal rules. �So far as the Ga-Adangbe council is concerned we are not involved and do not wish to be involved. Once someone is clearly elected as the Ga Mantse of any Ga-Adangbe state we will work closely with him to promote the interest of the Ga-Adangbe people�. The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Tawiah III took a swipe at President Mills in an interview with Peace FM alleging that the President was shunning Ga chiefs because he was under the impression that his enstoolment was orchestrated by the erstwhile Kufuor-administration and has therefore resolved not to give respect to the Ga paramount stool and all Ga chiefs. In a reaction, the Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Tackie Kommey, told Citi News that the President Mills would not invite the Ga Mantse or any other Ga Chief for state functions until their positions are gazetted by the National House of Chiefs. On his impressions about the government�s position, Dr. K.B Asante said it is the prerogative of the government to deal with any chief as stipulated in the laws of the land. He said the Ga Adangbe council has no stance on the government�s position because it is different from that of the council. �That�s the government�s procedure, if they have a procedure and they say they are not going to deal with him until he is gazetted that�s their business. We in Ga-Adangbe, we say once the person goes through the normal customary process and elected then we will work with him. What the government does is government business.� According to Dr K.B Asante despite the fact that the Ga-Adangbe council goes by the customary procedures, the Government is not expected to deal with a King or a Ga Mantse whose enstoolment is not in conformity to the processes that governs them. �You don�t expect the government to deal with a chief who have not conformed to the government procedure of election and enstoolment� He stated that as far as the Ga-Adangbe Council is concerned the Ga Mantse has been customarily enstooled. He added that the Council has tried several unsuccessful times to solve the feud between the two factions claiming the right to the stool. Dr. K.B. Asante called on the Ga traditional council and the customary entities to come together and solve the feud between King Tackie Tawiah III and the Nii Yaotey Otogah factions to ensure that the hullabaloo that has engulfed the Ga stool is laid to rest. �The Ga traditional customary entities must come together to resolve the matter. There is a dispute between the King Tackie Tawiah III faction and another group. The Ga-Adangbe council has tried to resolve this matter long before King Tackie Tawiah was enstooled but it was unsuccessful�.
