Prez Akufo-Addo Lacks Ideas - Otokunor

Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor has asserted that President Akufo-Addo has resorted to a totalitarian and family-friends style of government due to lack of ideas.

According to him, if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not change the approach in engaging citizens to share their ideas, the devil may find a job for the idle hand as it is happening in the Akufo-Addo government.

He reiterated that stealing has become the order of the day in the Akufo-Addo government as it is bereft of ideas to run the country.

“If we don’t engage in democratic government but resort to totalitarian government as well as family and friend’s government like the one Akufo-Addo is doing, then there will be no ideas to run the country, and we know that the devil finds a job for the idle hands. For that matter, if you go into government without ideas, you tend to steal and we don’t want it that way that is why we are putting all these in place,” he asserted.

He, however, explained in detail that the exercise will take place in all the 275 constituencies and after which the Manifesto Committee will organize a regional consultative forum to have a dialogue session with identifiable groups like Trade Union Congress (TUC) and civil society groups.

“We are engaging Ghanaians in the various constituencies and all the identifiable groupings in the constituencies in order for them to voice their exact challenges in the country so that we all find a solution to those challenges. After we are done with all the 275 constituencies, there will be a regional consultative forum by the manifesto committee as well as a dialogue session with the identifiable groups like the TUC,” he explained.

He then denied the assertion making news that the strategy of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to have people-centered manifesto is captured in the Kwesi Botchwey Committee Report as one of the reasons which caused the NDC to lose the 2016 elections.

He added that President Akufo-Addo can join others to bring suggestions to help the NDC come up with a solid manifesto for the 2020 election as he [Nana Addo] finds it difficult to run the country effectively; warning that his suggestion should not be one which will deceive Ghanaians.
