Work Begins On Ho-Adidome-Sogakope Road

The President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, says enhancing the capacity of the country in the transportation sector is of prime importance to his government. The President made the comment when he cut the sod for work to begin on the HO-Adidome-Sogakope �Adaklu Buadi roads. The road project which would serve as a major link between Adidome and HO is expected to increase economic activity within the Volta region if finished. According to President Mills the road project is in fulfillment of a campaign promise he made in 2008. �This is in part fulfillment of the promises that we made in 2008�this is to demonstrate that when you make a promise it is a sacred obligation� He reflected on the fact that although it has been late in coming government intends to fulfil all major promises to ensure that it gains the confidence of Ghanaians. �We have started a number of projects; many initiatives have also gone on. We are in power for only one reason, to help develop this country that is to say to help improve the living standards of our people� The road project when completed is expected to serve as an alternative to the Adomi Bridge to enable major renovation works to be done on the bridge. Under the project the road will be upgraded to a two lane single carriage way with double surface dressing. The president was confident that contractors working on the project would work within the requisite time schedules. Meanwhile President Mills has launched a major traffic light project aimed at regularizing the operations of traffic lights in the country.The project is to ensure that almost all traffic lights operate in a way that the power outage would not affect it. Launching the project which would see all major traffic lights in the countries major cities changed the president expressed concern about frequent accidents when there�s power outage which in-turn affects traffic lights. He gave the assurance that government would ensure that the new system of operating traffic lights comes on board nationwide to help address the problem.
