Man Kills Son And Cuts Off Wifes Hand

Innocent Dogah Dodzi, a farmer at Mafi Tsakpo in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, has allegedly split into two the head of his two year old son, David Dogah, killing him instantly. He also chopped off the left arm of his wife, Joyce Attipoe, 42, and inflicted several cutlass wounds on other parts of her body. Dogahs 20 year old-stepdaughter, Dinah Ahlidzah, was also not spared as she was given her share of mass attack of the household. Daily Guides investigations showed that the boy was carried by his mother at her back when a scuffle ensued between Dogah and his wife, and in the process of butchering his wife with a sharp cutlass, he split the boys head into two. After the heinous crime, Dogah attempted to commit suicide by inflicting deep cutlass wounds on the himself, but before he could carry out his plan fully, he was grabbed by the youth of town who handed him over to the Police. Speaking exclusively to Daily Guide on his hospital bed at Adidome, Dogah explained that his wife had refused to cook for him in the past three months but used all the food staff he brought from the farm to the house. According to him, all attempts to let his wife turnover a new leaf proved futile until last Monday when she decided to pack her belongings from the house to her aunties place. Dogah said he tried to prevent his wife from leaving his matrimonial home but in the process, she picked a cutlass and slashed his left arm. He alleged that the cutlass however fell off her hand so he (Dogah) took it from the floor and attacked her in revenge and as he swung the cutlass, the wife dodged and it hit their two year old son, splitting his head into two, killing him instantly. He claimed that he did not know what came over of him. He however denied media reports that the youth in the village beat him severely after arresting him. His wife could however not talk to Daily Guide as she was fast asleep at the time of Daily Guides arrive at the hospital on Wednesday. Her daughter, Dinah Ahlidzah, who is Dogahs step-daughter, however rubbished her step-fathers claims. Dinah, who also had cutlass wounds at her back and other parts of her body, told Daily Guide that her mother and dad had engaged in very frequent petty quarrels in the past six months. She said the step-dad frequently picked up quarrels with the mother over the allegation that she (the wife) had been feeding his (Dogahs) two step-children with his food stuff and wanted her to stop since he was not their biological dad. She alleged that during most of these quarrels, her step-dad often threatened to deal with her mother. The treats, she said, became so severe last Monday so the mother decided to pack out of the house. Dinah narrated that her step-dad, in an attempt to prevent the wife from leaving her matrimonial home, attacked her with a sharp cutlass, chopping off her left arm instantly. She said her shouts for help annoyed her step-dad who turned to her and cut her severely at the back with the cutlass. According to Dinah, Dogah held the cutlass firmly with both hands and when one of the swings missed her mother, it went straight for the head of their last born, who was the only child between the couple, splitting his head into two. Dogah was alleged to have run away after the act, but the youth in the village searched, found him and handed him over to the police. The North Tongu District Police Commander, ASP Wisdom Boglo, who confirmed the incident to Daily Guide said the boys body and his mothers left arm had been deposited at the Adidome Government morgue while investigations continued. The couple is also on admission at the same hospital.
