The Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Maame Yaa Aboagye has urged Ghanaians to massively vote in favour of the December 2019 referendum on the MMDCEs election.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, she belived the people of Ghana will vote "YES" stressing that "a Yes vote will strengthen our multi-party democracy consistent with our constitution, a Yes vote will strengthen our system of decentralized local government by providing a coordinated and organized political system, a Yes vote will provide political parties the opportunity to effectively participate in political activities at the local level, a Yes vote will provide greater opportunity for citizens of voting age to participate in political activities intended to influence the composition and policies at the local government level".

Maame Yaa Aboagye also lambasted the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over their stance on the referendum, describing the opposition party as "hypocrites".

She further explained that voting "Yes" will not prevent any person from standing as an independent candidate.
