<<Print>>The Greater Accra Youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) visited the Odawna Sahara market women and motor riders known as “Okada riders“ to interact with them.
The Youth wing sought their concerns to help the government serve them better.
The market women shared their challenges and pleaded with the government for swift solutions to their plight.
The team led by the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer, Hon. Moses Abor, assured them of government's commitment to creating a conducive working environment and enhancing the livelihood of Ghanaians.
"The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is working very hard to make sure that Ghanaians will feel comfortable in doing legitimate business in Ghana. He also desires that every Ghanaian is free of economic hardship, so we have heard your concerns and suggestions and we will carry these messages back to the appropriate offices for deliberation, and I assure you that, in due time, action will be a taken where necessary', he said.
Hon. Moses Abor in the company of the Chairperson of the Klottey Korle constituency Madam Juliana Aboagye, also visited NPP members in the area to solicit their views on the current state of economy and the impending referendum on MDCEs elections.
“The tendency of government appointed MDCE's to ignore the people in their districts is a reality and with numerous complaints being made to the government about the neglect of the residents of these districts or the underperformance of MDCEs, the President of Ghana intends to give the power of choosing the MDCEs to the people. This will allow the people to assess and replace incompetent MDCEs and therefore, will keep these MDCEs on their toes when elected", he explained.
"Voters in the various electoral areas already know if a candidate belongs to a political party or not, even without the candidate publicly declaring his or her political affiliation. It is for this reason that the government seeks to bring this out in the open to end the pretence and ensure full participation of majority of the stakeholders in each particular electoral area; as previous assembly elections have shown that public patronage is far lower than other partisan elections and this does not respect the true will of the people", he added.
He further stated that the “Touching the Base” programme by the party will continue in other parts of Greater Accra Region under the auspices of the NPP Greater Accra Youth Organizer and NPP constituency executives in Accra.
Joining the Regional Youth Organizer on the visit were also the party’s National Deputy Communications Director, Mame Yaa Aboagye, Parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korley, Prince Appiah Debrahand other executives.
