Former Member of Parliament for Kpone –Katamanso, Madam Beatrice Afriyie Ashong, is dead.
She held the seat for the National Democratic Congress from 1996 to 2004, two consecutive terms.
Confirming the death to the Ghana News Agency at Kpone, Mrs. Comfort Ashong Abrahams, a sister, said the MP died at the Tema General Hospital.
The family was yet to deliberate on the matter to know the way forward,she said.
Mr. Joseph Akwuerteh Tetteh, (JOE-T) the opposition NDC parliamentary candidate for Kpone Katamanso, said the late former MP was a mother and a councilor to him and would support" the family in these trying times"
Some party big wigs had visited the family to commiserate with them.
