Archbishop Prof. Asafo-Agyei Anane Frempong, Chief Executive Officer of the Asafo-Agyei hospital-Kumasi has been awarded the prestigious International Diamond Prize for excellence in quality by the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) for his quality exploits in treating hemorrhoids (Piles).

The International Diamond Prize for excellence in quality 2019, which was held last week in Vienna-Austria is in recognition of organizations, companies, public administrations and individuals with superior development efforts and overall excellence, which are most committed to economic progress, both for them and their communities as a whole. The award program is run by the ESQR with Head Office in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The award is in recognition of Archbishop Prof. Dr. Asafo-Agyei Anane Frempong’s excellent achievement in the medical field especially the quality research made in the non-surgical treatment of hemorrhoids (Piles) and how he has impacted economically in Ghana, Africa and the world at large.

Archbishop Prof. Dr. Asafo-Agyei Anane Frempong accompanied by Mr. Samuel Ohene Nyantakyi, Media Consultant to the Asafo-Agyei hospital were present at the awards ceremony held at the Parkhotel Schonbrunn in Vienna-Austria to receive the Asafo-Agyei award.

Speaking to newsmen at the Kotoka International Airport after returning home, Archbishop Prof Anane Frempong described the honor as a humble call to continue with the good work of serving man particularly the non-surgical way of treating piles using the hemorrhoidectomy method he introduced in 1991 which so many people across the world have benefitted.

“The world has indeed recognized the research I have made in treating piles. The process is non-surgical, painless and takes few minutes hence one can immediately go to work after the procedure. Now by God’s grace I hope to touch a lot more patients with this novelty”.

He called on all stakeholders in the health sector of the country to support the ‘Archbishop Asafo-Agyei foundation’ set up to alleviate people suffering from piles and other ailment and also called on the general public to visit the Asafo-Agyei hospital located at Daaban-Kumasi for free piles screening from this December as he advised that early detection of the ailment is good to aid permanent cure.

Archbishop Prof. Dr. Asafo-Agyei Anane Frempong is well known for his invaluable contributions to the health sector of the country and the world as a whole. He is the first Ghanaian to qualify as an expert in the non-surgical treatment of piles in 1991. He is an anointed man of God and founder of the Great Eternal Harvest International Ministry in Kumasi.

Archbishop Prof. Dr. Anane Frempong has picked countless international and domestic awards and honours. The International Biographical Centre (IBC) of Cambridge conferred on him the ‘International Man of the Year’ and ‘International Man of Achievement’ awards for 1991/92 and 1993/94, respectively. The IBC, in May 2000, awarded him as one of its 2000 outstanding scientists of the 20th century, and appointed him its Director General for Africa in 2005. The Australian-Asian Institute of Civil Leadership (AAICL), which rewards and promotes excellence in leadership in various fields of endeavour, made him a fellow in 2006, which honour came with the conferment of an Honorary Distinguished Professor (Hon. FAAICL) on him. Prof. Dr. Asafo-Agyei received a ‘Medicine and Healthcare Award,’ in addition to an Order Medal and Edict, during the Inaugural World Forum at the Oxford University in July 2006 and just recently received the Pillars of Modern Ghana award for his exploit in the medical field.
