Dr Kwaku Afriyie Commissions A 6-Unit Classroom & Water Facility In Western North Region

Minister of State in charge of State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) at the Presidency, Hon Dr Kwaku Afriyie has handed over a 6-unit classroom block, a school pitch and water facility and 3-unit classroom block with computer laboratory to Ampabame, Adewano and Aboboyaa in the Western North Region respectively.

According to the Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi-Wiawso constituency, the rationale behind the new facilities is to create serene atmosphere for teaching and learning for the pupils.

The pupils had been learning in a dilapidated school block and so the project aimed at providing relief to them and further as their share of the Common Fund.

The 6-unit classroom block consists of a spacious surrounding, 6 classrooms, 1 teacher’s office and storage rooms fully stocked with dual desks for effective teaching and learning.

Speaking after the ceremony, the Minister said “in the last 14 months through a unique plan,  I was able to cut sod for three separate schools to be constructed within the Sefwi-Wiawso constituency. I am happy to announce that all our collective effort is what we are witnessing today…I am sure the students would henceforth be safe in their new schools as we hand them to the community for its usage. I am sure their parents and beneficiary communities are also very happy about the new schools”.

He was also optimistic the school can serve all the adjoining villages saying "as in the education field, apart from the three schools, quite a number of education projects by my share of the Common Fund have been completed of which same would be commissioned today namely Ampabame MA Primary School 6-unit classroom block GHS 261,875.00, Adewano MA Primary School 6-unit classroom block/School field/Mechanized borehole GHS 331,400.00, Aboboyaa MA Primary School 3-unit classroom block & Computer Lab GHS 118,749.00”.

“As part of my support towards education, my leadership has been able to secure a scholarship package to 80 students to pursue various courses at the tertiary level. As a matter of fact, plans are far advanced to sponsor more in this year 2020…It is my fervent hope that, with the cooperation of the Municipal Directorate of Education, more projects will be pushed forward smoothly and quickly in the coming days,” he added.

He also thanked the Consultant of the project, Joesetth construction limited, for offering free consulting services and the constituency executives as well as the Chiefs and the people of the communities for making the project a success.
