Gov’t Will Not Sack Current Ambulance Service Workers

The Public Relation Officer [PRO] of the Ministry for Special Development Initiative, Moro Kabori has noted that the government has no intention of sacking current workers of the Ambulance Service.

“We are going to work with them,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

According to him, the service will need more hands “so the old ones [workers] will be trained as well to meet the standard now.”

The commissioning and distribution of 307 Ambulances to 275 constituencies as part of efforts to improve emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana would take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Information Minister who announced this at a news conference in Accra on Sunday said the digitized ICT system, tracking devices and labeling have been fixed on the ambulances and ready for distribution.

The Ghana Ambulance Service has signed a five-year service and maintenance agreement with the suppliers to ensure servicing and maintenance of the Ambulances.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah said 450 Emergency Medical Technician [EMT] drivers out of the 575 have been trained.
