The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum says government is building classroom blocks larger than the E-blocks under Mahama regime, in various public schools across the country.

Some parents have expressed their dissatisfaction with the double track system stating their wards don't get adequate learning time in school.

"It is for this reason that the government is building the infrastructure to abolish the double track system and rather have all students in school under the free SHS policy", Dr.  Osei Adutwum indicated.

Dr. Adutwum also denied claim that the double-track system gives students less time in school saying it is propaganda fueled by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking on Accra Fm, he pleaded with parents to be calm as “government is building the needed classroom blocks to stop the double -track system”.

"It's impossible to cancel the double-track system under the free SHS policy within two to three years. The best way government can do it is to put in place the needed infrastructure. The government can end the double-track system when there's a cut-off in enrollment.

”There’s no need to play politics with education. No student spends more time in the house than he/she spends in school. It’s never true; don’t pay attention to NDC’s propaganda...There is no way we will allow students to spend less time in schools. All students spend 8 months in school. The government wants students to be in schools at the same time so that the double-track system will be abolished. That is why the government is constructing classroom blocks much bigger than the E-blocks built by the erstwhile Mahama administration. The schools we are building are unprecedented,” the Deputy Minister of Education said.
