I Will Never Pick Kwesi Pratt As EC Chair...He Cannot Be Neutral! - NPP MP

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) keep accusing the current Electoral Commission (EC) of being in bed with the ruling NPP government.

The NDC suspects a recent decision by the EC to compile a new voters' register is just to favour the NPP especially as the country goes to the poll in December this year.

They insist that the Jean Mensa led EC has taken sides instead of being neutral.

However, the Member of Parliament for Subin constituency in the Ashanti region, Eugene Boakye Antwi believes it will be in the interest of the country, if the appointing authority selects someone who is not a known card-bearing member of one of the political parties.

Speaking to these controversies on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Eugene Boakye Antwi said: "every EC appointee is tagged depending on the party in power and this must stop. Everybody has an interest...if John Mahama is to select an EC Commissioner, he will not select someone who will fight against him. This should not even be subjected to any debate. We must understand it. If I am in charge and I am to pick a commissioner, I will not choose Kwesi Pratt because he is CPP neither will I choose an NDC activist; and that is the truth."
