President To Present Final State of The Nation Address On Feb 20

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has disclosed that the President will on 20th February, 2020 present his final State of the Nation Address to the August House.

He says it will also afford him the opportunity to account for his stewardship to the people of Ghana who voted for him in 2016.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that the Constitution mandates the President to account and inform the people of Ghana about the development of the country.

He says the President has officially written to inform parliament of his coming on the 20th of February, 2020.

"As a Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, I have also informed Parliament about the President’s visit to present his State of the Nation Address and also acquaint himself with the business of the House," he said.

"You know parliament reconvened only yesterday and there is a pile of work to be done. As I am speaking with you now, there are about 20 bills before the House and we need to work on them before the House will rise again before Easter," he added.

Touching on the achievement of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), he explained that the NPP government has done so well so far as the development of the country is concerned.

"Just within 3 years in government, more has been achieved than the NDC's 8 or so years in government," he said.

He praised the government for the procurement of the 307 ambulances which he believes will help improve the country’s health care system.
