Akufo-Addo’s Govt Doesn’t Demand Bribe Before Doing Business Here - Abronye DC Tells Investors

Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwame Baffoe fears the Airbus bribery scandal which involves Ghana can scare investors away from coming to do business in the country.

To him, investors upon hearing the news that Ghana's Government demanded money in the Airbus transaction in the Mills-Mahama administration will lose interest in coming to invest in the country as they are not in the position to pay a bribe of about $ 5 million dollars to government officials.

The Crown Court at Southwark in the United Kingdom passed judgment on 31st January 2020, between the Director of the Serious Fraud Office and Airbus SE, in which the European multinational aerospace corporation was fined $3.9 billion for the payment of bribes to secure deals in five countries, including Ghana.

In view of this report from the Crown Court in the United Kingdom, Abronye DC on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, sought to encourage all Ghanaian business people who have the intention to bring in investors to tell their business partners that the narrative is not the same under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

I will encourage all Ghanaians listening to Okay FM that if you have an investor who is coming to create business for the Ghanaian youths to get employment, they should tell the investors that under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, we don’t demand money before they can invest in the country. Tell them to come and work in the country”, he urged.

According to him, the Airbus bribery scandal goes to prove the issue which was raised by Mr. Martin Amidu that the late former President Atta Mills set up a committee to investigate former President John Mahama over the sale of the Embraer 190 in November 2012.

He, however, added that it is no surprise that the NDC till today has not been able to challenge Martin Amidu on the issues he raised against former President John Dramani Mahama; reiterating that the Airbus bribery scandal is a dent on the image of the country.
