Ayawaso West MCE Inspects Numerous Projects Municipality

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, inspected numerous projects in the various electoral areas.

As part of the Municipal Assembly’s activities to render account to the people of Ayawaso West, Hon. Owusu-Ahinkorah together with technocrats of the Assembly as well as some of the constituents and the Assembly members embarked on an inspection to see the various projects which commenced last year.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, Hon. Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah mentioned the Star Village classrooms renovations at East Legon where ceiling fans and new doors have been fixed in the classrooms.

She also inspected in the same Star Village School ongoing School Feeding Kitchen project which has reached the roofing level.

“The reason why we are serious about the school feeding kitchen is that most of the school feeding caterers cook the food from their homes to feed the children and we are unable to monitor the cooking process as to the kind of water and ingredients used to prepare the food for the children. Building the school feeding kitchen will help the coordinators to inspect and monitor the kind of food the children eat,” she narrated.

With the repaired local roads in the 5 electoral areas, the MCE hinted as they inspected that they were done with the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) in the Assembly; thus, a sod was cut last year to repair 1 kilometer of their local roads which were in bad shapes.

Touching on the revenue target of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly for the year 2020, Hon. Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah said that the Assembly intends to exceed Ghc12 million as last year, the revenue reached stood almost at Ghc10 million which was higher than the Ghc5.94 million revenue in 2018.

“Our revenue target for this year is to exceed Ghc12 million as last year we were able to reach almost Ghc10 million. In 2018, we reached Ghc5.94 million and in 2019, we reached Ghc9.68 million and so this year  we will go more than Ghc12 million due to the vehicles available and also because the people want to see that we are working with their taxes,” she predicted.
