Prez Akufo-Addo Can’t Fight Galamsey Alone – Alhaji Bodinga

The Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP], Alhaji Umar Bodinga says fighting illegal mining widely known as ‘Galamsey’ is a huge task which President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo can’t conquer alone.

According to him, the previous NDC government whiles in power did nothing to help fight the situation, but finds pleasure in ranting while in opposition.

“NDC did not put up any policy when they were in power. They knew the situation before NPP came to power,” he said.

Alhaji Umar Bodinga also admitted that, “I can’t say here that the NPP led by President Nana Addo has succeeded in fighting galamsey 100% but this government has done extremely well in the fight against galamsey.”

I Will Put My Presidency On Line To Stop Galamsey - President

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo earlier in the galamsey fight served notice that he is prepared to put his Presidency on the line in his avowed quest to fight illegal mining.

He said many people had said he needed to proceed cautiously, since the people involved were the same people who had voted him into power, and that should he take such a decision against them, they would not vote for him in the next election.

But the President, sounding very animated, said that would not be much of a bother to him, saying left with a choice between doing what was right and what would get him along with the people, he would do the right thing that was required of him and damn the consequences.
