Anyone Who Kicks Against UNI-PASS Isn't Seeking Ghana's Best Interests - Political Analyst

Political Analyst, Mr. Yaw Asani Tano, has described persons fighting against the introduction of the new Integrated Customs Information UNI-PASS system as not seeking the good interest of the country.

Anyone who kicks against the UNI-PASS system is not for Ghana,” he asserted.

According to him, though UNI-PASS is a "good system that will improve the ways of doing business in Ghana", his disquiet has to do with "the time duration that will make it completely the country’s asset," pointing out "that is what should be taken into consideration.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ Political discussion segment, Mr. Asani Tano indicated that his only problem with the system will be when he realizes through investigations that government did not thoroughly engage stakeholders and experts before its introduction.

…Another angle I am looking at is that after the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and President Akufo Addo saw the system in Korea and thought it will be good for Ghana hence the implementation, did they seek the views of stakeholders and experts? If yes, fine, but if no, then there are questions to be answered,” he noted.

The political analyst, however, called on the current administration to be firm in its resolve in rolling out the initiative, and to be prepared for the backlash as well.

In politics, a government must stand firm in implementing initiatives, otherwise your administration will not be considered as serious,” Asani Tano
