Coronavirus Battle: Make It Difficult For People To Enter Ghana Through Unapproved Routes- Rev Anyani-Boadum

The founder of the Jesus Generation Ministries, Rt Rev Dr. Nana Anyani-Boadum, has offered his solidarity message to Ghanaians as the nation puts in strict measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to the revered man of God, authorities in Ghana could emulate and implement the strategy of Isreal as we map out ways to mitigate the virus.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com on 14th March, 2020, he remarked that information gathered have proven that all of the cases recorded are all imported cases and it would be prudent stop all flights from high risk countries from entering Ghana.

He also touched on the mandatory 14-day quarantine exercise, stressing that it will be prudent for all travellers who have entered Ghana to observe it.

Rt Rev Dr. Nana Anyani-Boadum also called on the Government of Ghana to take a second look at the bilateral agreements for waiver of visa requirements.

He contends that inasmuch as the government wants to improve its diplomatic ties with other countries, we have to ensure the right thing is done to curb the spread of COVID-19.

"I will plead with government officials to put a stop to picking up dignitaries from the airport tarmac in cars. Every person must be made to go through the right medical checks before they are made to leave our airports", he advised.

He continued that personal hygiene must also be observed if we are to tackle the spread of the virus.

For this reason he cautioned Ghanaians to "sneeze into elbow instead of their palm" adding that "wash your hands regularly with soap and water and use hand sanitizers that contain 60% and above alcohol. Hand sanitizers that contain below 60% alcohol concentration should not be used".

Rt Rev Anyani-Boadum also called for families and society to protect the aged above 70 and children. He further noted that hospitals should also enact new policies to restrict unwanted visits to their facilities.

To the church, Rt Rev Anyani-Boadum stated that " in this period, we must put a stop to hugging and shaking of hands" as well as funeral activities.

On sports related matters especially football, he also said such activities must be put on hold.

He called on the security agencies to take a closer look to our porous boarders and mount strategies that would make it harder for people to enter Ghana without the right permit.

Doctors and nurses according to him must be given special protection as they help to make the impact of COVID-19 minimal.

He commended President Akufo-Addo for issuing a directive in the wake of things but was quick to add that the fight wasn't only for him to fight but rather, all persons with good intentions must add their voice to it.

The government of Ghana has imposed a temporary ban on travelers from countries that have recorded 200 or more cases of coronavirus.

"All travel to Ghana is strongly discouraged until further notice. Any traveller, except for Ghanaian citizens and persons with Ghana residence permits, who, within, the last 14 days, has been to a country that has recorded at least 200 cases of Covid-19, will not be admitted into the Ghanaian jurisdiction. Airlines are instructed not to allow such persons to embark" a statement from the Ministry of Information indicated.

This follows the news of six persons who have been infected with the virus in Ghana.

The statement which was signed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah further indicated that "there will be a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine for persons who are otherwise allowed to enter the Ghanaian jurisdiction”.
