The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has slammed the leadership of the National Democratic Congress for failing to evaluate the credentials of the candidate they are trying to partner former President Mahama with.

According to Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, he has been informed Mr. Eric Opoku would be partnering Mr. John Mahama in the 2020 elections.

In 2009, the Daily Guide newspaper reported that then deputy Minister for the Brong Ahafo Region and one-time MP for the Asunafo South constituency, Eric Opoku, admitted that a murder suspect, Kwasi Adu, was indeed grabbed in his house by the police on Friday night.

The suspect Sankore killer was arrested by the police upon a tip-off that he had made the deputy minister's Sakumono flat his haven since he ran away from justice after he allegedly shot and killed an evangelist, Kwame Nyame.

Addressing the above incident, Chairman Wontumi stated that "Eric Opoku is a thug and his history is there to prove. He isn't as smart as Bawumia and is going to damage John Mahama in 2020. He knows more about thuggery than economics".
