What Again Are You Still Waiting For Before Issuing Lockdown Order? – Kweku Boahen Slates Prez

Deputy Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Boahen, says President Akufo-Addo lacks leadership qualities thus the latter's inability to take critical decisions to halt the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

According to him, he is yet to understand or see the main reason why President Akufo-Addo has refused to lockdown the nation after the intense spread of the disease in the country and advice from the Ghana Medical Association.

“…I don’t know what President Akufo-Addo is waiting and looking for that is currently preventing him from locking down the nation to contain the already harm caused the nation due to his late precautionary measures taken concerning COVID 19”

He added that it saddens his heart that the first gentleman of the land has put up some precautionary measures believing to curb the rapid spread of COVID 19 in the country, but some government institutions managed by government appointees still operate when their manner of work involves lots of persons at a time.

“Why should Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, Head of the National Identification Authority [NIA] backed by President Akufo-Addo’s powers keep registering citizens when its operation involves a lot of crowded individuals’ at a time. All President Akufo-Addo is concerned about is to remain in power; therefore he will do everything within his capacity to maintain his powers forgetting that citizens need good health to keep him in position.”

Kweku Boahen as a panelist on UTV’s late news discussion stated that it is good that we pray as a nation against COVID 19 but government need to put up proper policies that will be backed by prayers.

“Without good precaution measures in place, God will not come from heaven to help us” he heatedly cited.
